Retro summer lovin’- PART ONE

We are so excited to share our Wiki Wiki styled bridal shoot. In honor of our shoot being featured in Charleston Magazine we want to share all the beautiful details that made this shoot such a unique and fun experience. However, because there are sooooo many beautiful details we are going to break this into two parts. We assembled an amazing team to create our retro inspired, beach elopement at Wiki Wiki Sandbar Restaurant on Folly Beach. It all started with the beautiful vintage dress of our make-up and hair stylist Penny of DNA Lab Salon. We framed the style of the shoot around her grandmother’s vintage dress and the idea grew from there. The dress in question will be more heavily featured in part two, but for now let’s start at the beginning. We wanted this shoot to not only consist of retro details, but also create a unique style all its own. While it has all the summer vibes, we love how our photographer Nicole (N. Mickle Photography) created this moody edginess to it. Not only did it amplify the vintage feel, but it created a real feeling of nostalgia with every photo.

Penny worked her magic to create a beautifully, subtle, yet glam look with a pop of color for our bride Joanne. She then gave our bridesmaid Audrey a retro half up/half down style, which was perfectly coiffed. Our bride got the sweetest of up-do’s that sat low on the neck to create a look of perfectly styled bridal elegance. No retro look would be complete without some gorgeous accessories. The jewelry, hair accessories, purse and mirror, and the brides “getting ready” outfit are all part of Model Bride’s beautiful collection. These pieces really brought together the entire look and that gorgeous purse is one of my absolute favorite pieces.

While the vintage reception dress makes a little appearance here (and that beading is to die for) we also had the pleasure of dressing our bridesmaid Audrey in this beautiful burnt orange, velvet number from Bella Bridesmaids. It also has a sheer panel front. The goal throughout the shoot was to merge blues and oranges to showcase the influence of the beautiful summer sunsets meeting the blues of the ocean. Nothing does that better than the gorgeous florals of Charleston Flower Girl. Angela added beautiful rose filled bouquets with pops of bright orange and rich burgundy. She also created a fun spin on the bridesmaid bouquets by creating hoop bouquets featured above.

For the ceremony space we wanted to create a dramatic entrance to coordinate with the beautiful gown. We created a small ceremony space in Wiki Wiki’s courtyard area and featured our double diamond Erised structure to frame the tropical foliage. Angela also added some beautiful floral foliage to the ceremony structure to give it that wow factor!

After the ceremony we headed to Wiki Wiki’s rooftop bar for some delicious tiki drinks, which they have no shortage of. Not to mention the photo worthy spots in this restaurant are endless. Their large wooden front doors provided the perfect backdrop for couples portraits. Stay tuned for the second part of our retro inspired shoot featuring our reception, lounge area, and the perfect photo booth!
