Our Story
Hi friends! We're jeremy and holly, the husband-and-wife team behind Sawdust and Sweetgrass. Our story started in 2018 when we were planning our own wedding. We wanted pieces that felt vintage, unique, and a little outside the normβbut when we couldnβt find them, we rolled up our sleeves and built them ourselves!
With Hollyβs background in design and Jeremyβs roots in woodworking (he grew up restoring furniture in his familyβs antique store), we combined our passions and launched Sawdust and Sweetgrass in 2019. What began as two custom builds for our big day has grown into a collection of ever-bigger, bolder, and more imaginative installs.
OUR CREW
Meet Holly β Co-Owner & Creative Behind the Screen
If youβve ever gotten a cheerful email from Sawdust, chances are it came from Holly. With a background in design and a lifelong love of making and creating, sheβs the visionary spark that keeps the ideas flowing.
Before launching Sawdust, Holly owned Dandy Boutique, a vintage-inspired clothing shop in Charleston that became known not only for its eclectic finds but also for her elaborate, whimsical window displays that changed with the seasons. That passion for visual storytelling never leftβsheβs simply swapped mannequins and dresses for wood panels and acrylic.
At Sawdust, Holly blends imagination with practicality: sketching out bold concepts, designing mockups that help clients picture their big day, and jumping in on builds to bring each idea to life. From the first email to the final install, sheβs there every step of the wayβmaking sure every project has just the right balance of polish, playfulness, and a little touch of magic.
The team behind every detail
Meet Jeremy β Co-Owner & Lead Fabricator
If Sawdust had a heartbeat, it would sound like Jeremyβs power tools. Growing up in his familyβs antique store, he learned early on the art of woodworking, restoration, and the beauty of well-crafted pieces with a story. That love of hands-on building stuck, and today heβs the one bringing Sawdustβs biggest, boldest ideas to lifeβmeasure by measure, cut by cut.
Jeremyβs favorite part of the job? The transformation. From stacks of raw lumber to towering walls, custom carts, and jaw-dropping backdrops, he thrives on creating installs that make guests stop and say βwow.β His craftsmanship ensures every project isnβt just creative, but sturdy, functional, and built to last through the biggest celebrations.
Whether heβs sanding, sawing, or troubleshooting on-site, Jeremy is the calm, steady force who makes sure each Sawdust install looks just as good in person as it did in the sketchbook. Simply putβif Holly dreams it, Jeremy can build it
Meet Daniel β The Artful Fabricator + Designer
With more than 18 years of creative experience spanning advertising, graphic design, art direction, fashion, and costume fabrication, Daniel is a true hybrid of artist and maker. His career began with sketchpads and campaign briefs, but quickly expanded into crafting bold visuals, wearable art, and imaginative builds. After over a decade in higher educationβwhere he honed discipline, nurtured curiosity, and inspired the next generation of creativesβDaniel shifted gears to pour that same energy into Sawdust + Sweetgrass.
Today, he moves seamlessly between sketching detailed mock-ups, refining typography, and rolling up his sleeves in the workshop. Known for his eye for detail and inventive approach, Daniel transforms concepts into tangible pieces that balance artistry with craftsmanship. Whether itβs a custom build or a small design flourish, his work reflects both precision and imagination, helping bring the SDSG vision to life one project at a time.
