The Making of Fred
boho mood board 4.jpg

Normally Jer and I work together on our backdrops and builds, with Jer doing the bulk of the wood work. However, recently I have been trying to get more involved and hone my wood working skills, starting with our most recent backdrops Fred and George. I love funky and fun backdrops and I thought doing an ombre color palette would be so much fun! So without further ado let me take you through our latest build! First I started with the frame.

I measured out the height and width that I want the structure to be. Then I used an angle to make sure each corner was 45 degrees, clamped each side and screwed the corners together. Lastly to complete the frame I added two support beams in the middle with the same technique I used to make the frame.

After the frame was complete it was time to choose the colors! I thought it would be easier to pick a palette I liked and then run with it, instead of picking it color for color. Choosing the complete palette made the ombre effect flow beautifully! Each color got two panels, except for the middle one, which got one. After placing the the painted panels on the frame in the correct order, I screwed each one down. I then puttied each screw, sanded, and painted over each one, completing the project in just under 7 hours!

Check out the videos below for a fun timelapse of the entire project! Of course we couldn’t make Fred without George! I created a second backdrop with pink and coral colors, which would be perfect for a baby or bridal shower! We hope you enjoyed this play by play of our most recent project and look forward to making more soon! xoxo- Holly
